The local residents cook and heat using the traditional “Sanguozhuang” stove, so they need a lot of firewood in their daily life, which inevitably poses a threat to the surrounding forests of the panda habitat. According to a WWF survey in 2010, each household used about 30 tons of firewood every year, which is equivalent to 0.37 hectares of the forest cut off and 31.6 tons of carbon dioxide released.
